A TIPPING POINT FOR LAST-MILE SUSTAINABILITY

When it comes to last-mile freight and logistics, do you think the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in higher or lower carbon emissions? With millions of people suddenly stuck at home, it’s no surprise that people began ordering a lot more stuff online. You’d expect that to mean a lot more delivery vehicles making a lot more trips and emitting a lot more carbon. But an unexpected thing happened. The carbon footprint of last-mile delivery got smaller.

MOBILITY’S NEXT FRONTIER: HOW TO ACCELERATE THE DECARBONIZATION OF MOBILITY WITH ELECTRIC VEHICLES

There’s no question that the electric revolution is upon us. But will it come soon enough? Even if recent growth rates are sustained, it is questionable whether the penetration of electric vehicles (EVs) will have a significant impact on the decarbonization of mobility over the decade to come. The adoption of EVs must further accelerate—and quickly. The ecosystem must now come together to address the systemic barriers surrounding the user experience, vehicle technology and infrastructure. This masterclass will explore what’s required to ignite a surge in electric vehicle adoption for a more sustainable road ahead.

It takes an ecosystem

As we gather (virtually and in person) for the 2021 Movin’On Summit, I wanted to share a few thoughts about where we’ve been, and perhaps more important, where we’re going in the world of sustainable mobility.

Cities of the future

With Stephen Zoegall, Lead – Global Cities, Transport and Infrastructure, Accenture

Technologies enabling sustainability in the mobility ecosystem

A look at the fundamental transformations of our time - digital and sustainability and our innovation-led, future vision for the mobility industry where key technologies are driving sustainability across the mobility ecosystem.

MOVIN’ON 2021 – COLLECTIVE COMMITMENT TO ACCELERATE THE MOVE FROM AMBITION TO ACTION

The Movin’On Summit has come and gone, but one thing is clear – everyone who participated is truly committed to accelerate the move from ambition to action, making mobility more sustainable with less harm to our planet. The topics and conversations sparked discussions that will continue way past the summit, and we are inspired by the passion and commitment shown by the participants to find actionable and collective solutions.

READ THE FLASH TALK

By Sarah Banks, Managing Director, Global Freight & Logistics Lead, Accenture.

Stephen Zoegall, Lead – Global Cities, Transport and Infrastructure at Accenture,  anchors the conversation around the cities of the future through three main pillars : digital/physical convergence, sustainability, and a revolution in services.

presented by Accenture

How will public transport operators transition from operators to experience providers post-covid?

Even pre-COVID, an elevated customer experience was never a sweet spot for public transport agencies and operators. Regaining customers and their confidence post-pandemic will require the user experience to be redefined. The ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach no longer works. Public transport players will need to radically change their business and operating models to meet the changing mobility needs of riders.

The Sustainable Last Mile

In 2020, Accenture and Movin’On formed a last mile community of interest to address the burning question of how to reshape last-mile delivery in a more sustainable way.

Combining the community’s findings with compelling data from Accenture’s latest research, this session will focus on what actions the last-mile ecosystem needs to take in order to effect real, sustainable change. Everyone has a part to play. What will yours be?
