Government Administration and Political Science, both from the University of Pennsylvania, thanks to a Fulbright Fellowship and a Scholarship from the Organization of American States. He started his professional career with the UN´s Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean. He also founded Fundación Ethos, a Latin American think tank based in Mexico and developed the Responsible Government Model and several projects on social and environmental policy.
On 2011 Mr Rodas returned to Ecuador and founded SUMA, a national political party. Two years later he ran for President of Ecuador; on 2014 he was elected Mayor of Quito, becoming the youngest Mayor of the capital city. He initiated and developed the construction of the first Metro line of Ecuador, He also transformed approximately 2 km of streets into pedestrian lanes and applied public policies to reach year 2020 without carbon emission vehicles in the Historical District of the city.
He currently is World Co-President of United Cities and Local Governments Organization (UCLG), and member of the boards of the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, and the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI). He is a Young Global Leader and member of the Future Global Council of Cities and Urbanization of the World Economic Forum.
