Anchorwoman, Journalist and Producer
Asha Sumputh was born and raised in Mauritius, a paradise in the Indian Ocean. She grew up on a cosmopolitan, English- and French-speaking island where she studied in a very successful educational system based on the British model. She is completely bilingual in English and French but also speaks Hindi, Mauritian Creole and some Italian.
With this versatile background, innate curiosity and constant quest to discover the world and other cultures, Asha went to Europe to pursue a higher education. She graduated from Cambridge University and also has a Masters in Economics and Business Management from Sorbonne University in Paris.
Today, Asha’s an entrepreneur, television journalist and producer with a background in sustainability, economics, finance, technology and politics. You can watch her show Sustainable Energy on CNBC. She also directs and produces two weekly programmes, Business Africa and Initiative Africa, which are broadcast in 50 countries and highlight the economic and political news on the African continent. She usually covers a wide range of topics, but her favourites are sustainable development, business, economics, finance, innovation, entrepreneurship, education and environment.
Currently, Asha is also a Lecturer at the ENA (École Nationale d’Administration) and Sorbonne University. Before devoting her work full-time to journalism and teaching, she worked in fashion for major industry players including l’Oréal, Yves Rocher, Sonia Rykiel, Dior and Chanel.
